Board Of Adjustment
Meets the first and third Tuesday upon demand. Meetings are held at the City Council Chambers at 5:00 PM. Four members are a quorum. Five members plus a member who serves as an alternate. Governed by open meeting laws. This board receives applications for variances and acts upon them. One member of the Board of Adjustment must be a member of the Planning Commission.3 Year Term (Appointed by Mayor w/Council approval)
Electrical Board
Board members must be licensed electricians. Members review applications from individuals wanting to become licensed electricians in Holdrege. There is no set meeting time. Two member board.2 Year Term (Appointed by Mayor w/Council approval)
Plumbing Board
Board members must be licensed plumbers. Members review applications from individuals wanting to become licensed plumbers in Holdrege. Two member board. There is no set meeting time.2 Year Term (Appointed by Mayor w/Council approval)
Health Board
Board meets at such times as necessary to review complaints so as to safeguard the health of the residents of the community. The Board inspects premises and businesses as the Governing Body may direct. There is no set meeting time. Five member board. Mayor, Council President, and Police Chief represent the City and two members appointed by the Mayor from the community.1 Year Term (Appointed by Mayor w/Council approval)
Police Retirement Board
Board meets once a year to review the retirement of the police officers. Six member board. Two elected by police officers. City Administrator, Council Member, and two members appointed by the Mayor.4 Year Term (Appointed by Mayor w/Council approval)
Tree Board
Board meets as needed which may be once a month to plan the growth and development for the parks and sets regulations regarding the planting of trees and types. Plans Arbor Day activities as part of the process to meet regulations for being a Tree City US. Five member board.3 Year Term (Appointed by Mayor w/Council approval)

Memorial Tree Fund Implementation and Management Proposal

The City of Holdrege regularly receives requests from residents who want to plant trees in city parks as memorials to loved ones. It is desirable to make memorial tree fund requests an orderly process for the benefit of all parties involved. A proposed process is outlined below.
I. Establish memorial fund account (this account could be managed by the Phelps County Community Foundation, the City of Holdrege, or some other entity)
II. Create memorial tree request form (Holdrege Tree Board)
III. Anyone who wishes to have a memorial tree planted will fill out a request form and return it to the city, along with a donation check.
IV. Donations will be deposited in the memorial fund account.
V. The Holdrege Tree Board will meet in February of each year to review all submitted request forms. During this meeting the board will:
A. Compile a list of the number and species of trees to be ordered for spring planting
B. Indicate on park site plans the locations where trees will be planted and for whom each tree will serve as memorial
C. Select vendor(s) to order and plant trees
VI. Bill for trees will be paid from memorial account funds
VII. City crews or private contractors will plant trees each spring at locations indicated on maps
