Council Meetings
City Council meetings are held the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month at 7:30 PM in the City Building. The City Council follows a regular order of business. Because there are so many matters for the Council to consider, the agenda is prepared in advance and subjects on it usually have been reviewed by a department head or the City Administrator so that the Council may have all available facts. By state law agenda items must be added prior to 24 hours to the meeting which is Monday at 5:00 PM. The Holdrege City Council meets the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 7:30 PM. If you wish to place an item on the agenda please contact the City Administrator or City Clerk at 995.8681 by the Thursday prior to the meeting. All meetings are governed under the open meeting law which means there must be a published notice prior to the meeting.
Citizens may participate in the public forum portion of the Council meeting which is held at the beginning of the meeting. Discussion can be held with the Council on these matters but no formal vote can be taken because the item was not on the agenda. Agendas are available for the public on the front table in the Council Chambers.
Your City Council invites and urges your attendance at all regular meetings. If you wish to speak from the floor on the subject being considered, you will be given an opportunity to do so. During public hearings citizens are urged to attend and speak from the floor, if they so desire on the subject under consideration.
