Holdrege is supported by an exceptional group of individuals and businesses who are passionate about the idea that Holdrege is the best place to live and work. This year’s Holdrege Area Chamber of Commerce banquet will celebrate that sense of community, and the Chamber invites everyone to share in the celebration.
“This evening is truly a celebration of what makes our community great,” said Michele Ehresman, the Chamber’s executive director. “It is our opportunity to honor those businesses and individuals who have made a difference. We are also very pleased that Lieutenant Governor Rick Sheehy will be attending.”
The Chamber banquet is only one week away and will be held on April 1 at the Holdrege City Auditorium. The night will begin with a cocktail reception at 6 p.m. At that time, guests will have a chance to network and view raffle items. Items in the raffle include an Apple iPad2, $250 gas gift card, jewelry, beef, lamps, and concert tickets. All proceeds are reinvested into the community. Stop by the office or call 995-4444 for raffle tickets or to make a reservation for the banquet.
The dinner, catered by the Holdrege Country Club, will start at 6:45 p.m. Following dinner, at 7:45 p.m., four businesses and individuals will be recognized for their contributions to the Holdrege community during the awards program. Nebraska Lieutenant Governor Rick Sheehy will be a special guest.
Those receiving Chamber awards are: Visionary Rising Star Award - Bruning State Bank, Visionary Super Star Award - Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home, Trailblazer of the Year - John Boehler, and Lifetime Chamber Achievement Award - Wilbur Black.
“These businesses and individuals truly exemplify what it means to invest in your community,” Ehresman said. “They devote their time, their talents, their resources and their dedication to make our town one that will thrive for many years to come.”
Bruning State Bank, recipient of the Visionary Rising Star Award, is being recognized as a new business which has gotten off to a successful start but has also given of time, talents and resources for the benefit of the entire community.
Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home is a longtime Holdrege business. Recent renovations to the facility will allow the funeral home to serve the community for the next 100 years as Ryan Bauer, owner, focuses on providing a comforting setting for family members during difficult times.
Trailblazer of the Year is given to an outstanding leader in the business community. This year, John Boehler, president of Bruning State Bank’s Holdrege branch, is being recognized with that honor. His numerous contributions to the community have helped shape the local business scene and have provided opportunities for many organizations to succeed.
Wilbur Black will receive this year’s Lifetime Chamber Achievement Award for his dedication as a longtime Chamber member who has helped shape the Chamber into the organization it is today.
After the program and awards, The Weisenheimers will present “An Evening at the Improv.” The Weisenheimers are a “short-form” or “game-style” improv group from Omaha. Nothing is scripted so every comedy scene is based on audience suggestions. Be prepared for a night of laughs with “America’s Favorite Comedy Troupe.”
Following the banquet will be an after-hours social until midnight. The banquet cost is $35 per person. Reserved tables are available. Please RSVP by Saturday, March 26, to 308-995-4444.
